Is LifeWise Learning Center for me?

LifeWise Learning Center is a ministry serving homeschooling families.

 

 Is there a Membership Fee to join?

Yes, there is an annual membership fee. Contact us for more information.

 

Is there an Application Fee to join?

Yes, there is an application fee for new members only.

 

Do Members need to purchase additional Materials?

Yes, there is a materials cost. The amount varies depending on courses taken.

 

What curriculum do you use?

We follow a Classical approach to education and utilize curriculum written with a biblical worldview. 

 

Is the work done on computer or worksheets?

Students learn from their textbooks and complete their assignments on worksheets provided with materials purchase. Some work in older levels, such as research projects, is completed on a computer.

 

What do you study?

We offer foundational subjects such as language arts, math, history, and science. We will also be offering a variety of hands-on courses we call Life Skills Courses, which may include sewing, baking, engineering, chess, mechanics, gardening, art, Russian and Spanish languages, financial literacy, etc.

How does the year look like in general?

We start on the first week of September and finish at the end of May. We take two weeks off for Christmas and a week for spring break. Lessons are completed at home every Friday and several other days as designated on our calendar.

 

What are the group sizes?

It varies, but we keep them at no more than 15 students per group.

 

What does a typical day look like?

We start our day with a Bible lesson and prayer followed by our core lessons. We have one short break and one lunch break.

 

Who are the teachers?

We have a certified teacher on our team.  Other members of our team are homeschooling parents and dedicated members who have been trained to assist with the process.

 

Are parents required to be involved?

Yes, parent involvement is heavily relied upon. Members are required to volunteer and assist completing lesson work with their child(ren).  Members will have a variety of ways to participate, including coordinating field trips, supervising during recess, planning events, and organizing children’s work, among other tasks.

 

How successful are the children in this program?

We have administered standardized testing at the end of each year and our student members score above state averages.

Do you offer help for students who are behind or who struggle academically?

Yes, we provide Math and Reading help as well as one on one tutoring at an extra cost.
